Mothers' Day
Heather Cox Richardson's post on May 7 (if you are not reading her Letters from an American, you should be) is about Mothers' Day with s', not 's. It was part of women's efforts to gain power to change modern society. It seemed like an appropriate day to visit the Lucy Burns suffrage museum in Lorton VA. The prison complex is called the Workhouse Art Center and it is the prison complex where suffragettes were held after being arrested for demonstrating in front of the White House to demand the vote. When they went on a hunger strike the warden had them force fed with a tube inserted in their throats. I am able to vote because of these women. They are my foremothers.

Both Julie and Inez told me Bucc-ees is a Texas institution and I should experience the phenomenon. This was as I was leaving Texas. All the gas pumps were occupied and I discovered after a few minutes of waiting that the occupants were inside the store because the parking area was full.
Fast food barbecue restaurant, all of the usual road trip paraphernalia, tee shirts, etc. I did a quick look around and headed out
