Local Bourbon

We visited Bowman Distillery Friday. Although it's not in Kentucky it does make award-winning Bourbon. The tour and tasting was interesting and although it did not convert me to a Bourbon drinker, I did buy some of their gin. Ronda mixed up a batch of Bourbon slush which we discovered to be an excellent soporific. DO NOT HAVE ONE WHILE PREPARING EASTER DINNER.

Preparing for Margaritaville

We went to Goodwill yesterday to find Hawaiian shirts for the Jimmy Buffet concert in Bangor Maine in August. Hopefully they are big enough that we can wear sweatshirts underneath because, hey, it's August in Maine.

Audubon Corkscrew Preserve

At the suggestion of birding friends in Panama, I visited this preserve. It's a wonderful pristine forest and wetland. The highlight was watching an Anhinga neck snake through the water. I've read about that behavior but never witnessed it. Barred Owls calling was a close second and, oh yeah, a long time volunteer ranger commiserate with me over the state of politics in Florida and Arizona.

Marie Selby Botanical Garden in Sarasota

The special exhibit is Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith. The gardens interpreted the photos of Mapplethorpe in their displays and they were stunning.

Museum of Whimsy in Sarasota

I'm becoming a connoisseur of flamingos. These were two of the many at the Museum.
